The leadership of Dar El Oloum College for Science and Technology held an extensive coordination meeting with prominent traditional community leaders from North Bahri, at Al-Istiqlal Club in Al-Kadro, as part of the College’s vision to strengthen community engagement and foster cooperation and integration with local leadership in support of regional development and sustainable growth.
The meeting was attended by Professor Omar Mohamed Altoum Al-Shami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dar El Oloum College for Science and Technology, alongside Dr. Ali Wada’a Mohammed Al-Amin, Principal of the College, as well as distinguished figures and representatives of the traditional administration in the Bahri area, led by Nazir Ibrahim Ali Mohammed Al-Laghi. Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the academic institution and the surrounding community, while emphasizing the vital role of higher education as a key driver of local development.
The discussions placed particular emphasis on activating continuing education, professional training, and capacity-building programs. Both parties agreed on the importance of these initiatives in enhancing the competencies of the national workforce and developing the skills of community members through high-quality training programs that respond to labour market needs and keep pace with scientific and technological advancements.
Participants also reviewed a number of shared issues related to the public interest and the improvement of services across the region. They highlighted the pivotal role that the traditional administration can play in facilitating the College’s educational and community mission and in directing academic initiatives toward addressing the real challenges facing the local community.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular coordination meetings and establishing joint working mechanisms to oversee the implementation of the agreed initiatives. They emphasized that aligning higher education with the needs of the surrounding community is a fundamental step toward achieving comprehensive development and building a knowledge-based society.
