On Monday, October 13, 2025, His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), received Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Adam, Dean of Dar El Oloum College for Science and Technology (Sudan), and Dr. Bakhita Amin, Dean of Omdurman College of Journalism and Printing Technology (Sudan), along with their accompanying delegation, at the Academy’s main campus in Abu Qir, Alexandria.
The visit aimed to explore prospects for academic and scientific collaboration between the two sides and to enhance mutual cooperation in higher education, research, and training.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Arab Academy, Omdurman College of Journalism and Printing Technology, and Dar El Oloum College for Science and Technology. The MoU seeks to establish joint training programs, promote academic exchange at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and foster collaboration in research, consultancy, faculty development, and joint academic initiatives
The Sudanese delegation also conducted an inspection tour of the Planetarium Science Center at the Academy
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Mohammed Khair, Advisor to the President of the Academy; Professor Dr. Amr El-Helou, Dean of the Center for Agreements and International Relations; Professor Dr. Abeer Rafqi, Dean of the College of Language and Media; Dr. Ali Widaa Mohammed Al-Amin, Deputy Dean of Dar El Oloum College; and Dr. Widad Eidros, Secretary of Academic Affairs at Omdurman College of Journalism.
Following the ceremony, Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar held discussions with the deans and their delegation on ways to enhance cooperation between the Academy and the Sudanese institutions. He also presented an overview of the Academy’s regional and international branches, along with its global academic partnerships and ongoing collaborative programs.
Professor Abdel Ghaffar expressed his pleasure at the visit, affirming the Academy’s commitment to fostering academic partnerships with Omdurman College of Journalism and Printing Technology and Dar El Oloum College for Science and Technology. He emphasized that the Academy welcomes all opportunities to build bridges of cooperation with Sudanese academic institutions in pursuit of a comprehensive and integrated scientific vision
He further noted that the Academy holds deep appreciation for the Sudanese people, highlighting that students from Ahfad University (Sudan) had recently graduated from the Academy’s New Alamein branch, where they completed programs in Medicine and Pharmacy.
For his part, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Adam, Dean of Dar El Oloum College, expressed his delight at being hosted by the Academy and signing the memorandum, praising AASTMT as one of the most distinguished and successful institutions in the region.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bakhita Amin, Dean of Omdurman College of Journalism and Printing Technology, voiced her appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended by the Academy’s leadership and staff
In turn, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Adam, Dean of Dar El Oloum College, expressed his pleasure at renewing collaboration with the Academy, recalling his prior service as a member of its Executive Office during his tenure as Cultural Counselor of Sudan in Cairo. He added that under the leadership of Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Al-Toum, Chairman of the College’s Board of Trustees, Dar El Oloum College attaches great importance to international partnerships as a means of sharing experiences and advancing academic excellence. He further noted that this MoU represents the fourth partnership the college has established with Egyptian and Arab institutions based in Egypt
Additionally, Dr. Bakhita Amin emphasized that under the leadership of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, the Arab Academy possesses vast expertise in scientific research, academic development, and consultancy services, expressing confidence that this MoU will pave the way for fruitful cooperation between the two sides across various academic and research fields.
